Saturday, March 24th
Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation’s 2012 Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon Fundraiser
“The Language of Flowers”
Spring fashions this year will feature flowered prints and reflecting this is a renewed in-terest in the Victorian use of flowers as a means of communication. Floral arrange-ments were used to send messages, for example when Kate Middleton married Prince William in London last spring her wedding bouquet flowers held symbolic significance:
  • Lily-of-the-Valley - return of happiness;
  • Hyacinth - constancy of love;
  • Ivy - fidelity, wedded love;
  • Myrtle - the emblem of marriage, love. (The stems of a myrtle planted by Queen Victoria in 1845 are traditionally used in royal wedding bouquets).

Attendees will enjoy a flower-bedecked luncheon, view the latest fashion trends, enjoy music by Mrs. Sue Royal, and learn from the experts on how to convey your thoughts through carefully chosen flowers. Tickets go on sale March 1st.
